With my current work situation, I find myself trying to get out of the house for a little bit at least once a day. Usually its just a walk to the store or for coffee, though sometimes I sit in the park and do sudoku. On today's walk, I realized how nature has a natural balance for protection of itself. I noticed how with sun shining brightly that the trees are now covered with leaves and provide shade. They are providing natures cooling centers for humans and other animals along with smaller vegetation like smaller trees and plants. Then in the winter when all these things are looking for as much warmth while outside they shed their leaves to protect themselves but also to allow more sunlight. Its natural balance like this that makes me not be an atheist.

Keri's nephew(Kelly's Brother), Sean got engaged this past weekend. I was aware of it going on since he used the same guy that I did for the engagement ring. However Sean went all out on the actually engagement. It was a complete suprise to Lindsay and Sean did it her home town of Cincinnati and made sure both families were there to celebrate after.

Fun in Costa Rica

Check out this video. We were not allowed to record ourselves but the guides would take our camera and record them. These are the zip lines in Monteverde area of Costa Rica. The volcano is Arenal Volcano and it is the largest and most active one in CR. The lake there is also the largest man-made lake in CR. It generates 30% of the nations electricity.

Busy week

So as of Sunday I went to another Cubs game and I am now 4-0 on the season. It has certainly helped that the cubs have been doing so awesome. They have the best record in Baseball and I am guessing the best record at home since I know they had been doing much better at home then away. If the win tonight it will be 10 straight wins.

Otherwise besides that last week, Keri and I also took our first Dance lessons. Keri can be a little crazy at times since she imagined that we would be amazing, like Fred Astair, at our first lesson. However we did go to a wedding this past weekend and practiced our box step. Otherwise we went to the Broadway in Chicago show called "Avenue Q" on Monday night. Unfortunatly I had to work that night at 9:30 so we left at intermission. However the first act I saw was hillarious.

The show is a combination of actors and actors with puppets on their arms where the puppets are the characters. I know its only in Chicago till the end of the week but if you get a chance to see it somewhere else then please do.

Last night a group of us went to the "Death Cab for Cutie" show are Millenium park. The band was great. They played for almost two hours. I had not heard alot of their songs off there new album but they still played a lot of their older stuff which rocked. If you have the means of checking them out then I highly recommend it. They are so choice. The photo is from the show where Mel and Mike did not know we were behind them.

Otherwise we have two days off and then I have TK's bachelor party. So lots going on. I hope your all having fun.

Thanks again to Mel and Mike for taking us to the game tonight. It was a blast. Cubs win in the 10th inning. The only run on LA's side was walked in by Big Z. Then the Cubs game back and tied it in the 9th to win in the 10th. Awesome game. I did realize that I have gone to 3 games this year, all in May and the Cubs have one everyone.

Also this picture is from my phone and its the other side of the standium. We had great seats right near the field on the first base line. Right in front of the Dodgers bull pin. The photo is ove the LCD display on the third base line. Not to bad for a phone that I pretty much drop on the ground daily.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

If you plan on seeing the new Indiana Jones movie then SciFi Channel has a documentary where they are trying to track down the real crystal skulls. I thought it would be neat to learn a little about the myth behind the movie. It was not to bad.

Check out SciFi channel for it since I know its being replayed a lot. Its called "Mystery of the Crystal Skulls".

Hurray for RBV's

I really hate paying a lot for drinks. However I hate it even more when a bar is charging you for a $2 can of Red Bull yet using the other brands energy drinks without informing you or charging it cheaper. These bars get the syrup for the energy drink just like soda at a huge discount but then charge what other bars charge for true red bull. It sucks that red bull only comes in cans and that overhead is always passed on to you however, i only want to pay for what I actually get.

A few years back a new bar in Chicago opened not to far from where a group of us lived. One night we all went there. I ordered a red bull and vodka and noticed he poured the "energy drink" out of the soda gun. Steve at the same time had order a rum and coke and commented on how it tasted different. Being the way I am, I got into an argument with the bar tender that he did not give me red bull. He kept saying he did and I pointed out that Red Bull only comes in a can and not a gun. After about 20 minutes the bartender finally admitted that it was RC's version of Red Bull. This now made since to why steve's drink tasted funny since it was an RC and rum. This bar had gone with RC's products in order to cut costs. I can understand that point however don't try to pass your cheapness off as the stuff that we ordered. If I order a rum and coke, I expect the person to tell me its pepsi or RC before they give me my drink. I am usually fine with it, I just want to know that I am getting something different then I ordered. Same goes now with the energy drink market. I understand that Red Bull is costly and harder to keep since you have to make sure you have enough cans. However just make sure that your not screwing the customer by charging $8 for a red bull and vodka yet your really not using the expensive product.

Ahh New Orleans

So on my way back to the hotel this morning at about 4am in New orleans this was going on in front the of the hotel. Unfortunatly I pulled my camera out to late to film the original fight however here is what is the follow up after they were separated. Pussy issues

So I went to go check on the back porch since I am almost done with my work and the cat is still there. Mind you I opened the door and they came from another floor but they were almost at my door within seconds of opening it. Once outside I still felt the cat made a big interest to my porch neighbors. I also left a bowl of milk outside which the cat did not drink at all at least at this point. Also this was the most behaved cat I have ever seen so maybe its because it does not like milk. I love milk and I am a giant bowl full of crazy. So maybe milk is the big problem in society. Think about that for a while.

Not sure what to do

So I am working late and I get some water from the kitchen and I hear a cat. I kind of ignore it since I figure its the neighbors apartment or I am finally going crazy. However I go to the kitchen again a while later and this time I think I need to give into my craziness and check whether or not there really is a cat meowing on the back porch. I go outside I confirm once again my own sanity. There is an orange cat there. I go outside and pet it for a bit and then figure I can look for anyone who might have a light still on. The cat follows me to each floor. I am kind of amazed. I grew up with cats but never saw one that was willing to follow you. I went to ever floor and all lights were off. I finally asked the cat(yeah still sane) where they lived. I did this by going towards each door and seeing how the cat reacted. After all the doors I realized that I think it is my across the porch neighbors. At least the cat jumped on there door and did not on any other. I finally decided to not let the cat in though I actually opened the door at one point with the intention to. The cat did not come in at least within in about30 seconds I had the door open. Either way I realized i can not support a cat in my place, I have no food or litter box and realized that if I took the cat in then the people who are missing the may get even more worried. I did make sure the back door to the back porch was closed and that the cat could not be let out but I felt kind of guilty not taking it in. Though I thought about the fact that I would have the cat until I found the owner which would worry the owner and I am not sure I can handle a cat in my place. I have still checked and the cat is on the back porch. I wish whoever took care of it would also notice that they were not in their place. I feel bad for not taking the cat in but at the same time I realized this is not an issue I need to take on. I looked at each door and knock twice at my neighbors, even though their lights were off, and still no reaction. I am going to post a note tomorrow morning at the mail box to figure out whose cat so I know for future reference.

We will see how that goes.

Apples Vs. Coffee

I am sure you have all seen these. In the bathroom at a bar it had one of those list of random trivia facts. The point that caught my interest was that it stated "An apple wakes you up better then caffeine". I love apples. So now every morning I wake up and have an apple and I have to say once your done eating it the cob webs are pretty much gone from your head. So I highly recommend giving it a try.

I grew up with the Must See TV or what ever the hell they were calling it on Thursday. Thursday was the sit-com night when I was younger. Now I have found that CBS Mondays are the best sitcom night on television. They have Big Bang Theory which might is humorous from the point of view of social akward geek(I think they are more nerds though) try to deal with somewhat social situations. Then you have "How I met your mother" which I think has to be the best sitcom on television for our generation. After that you have "Two and a half Men" which is such a guilty pleasure. There is not much substance to the show but its just damn funny. The to close it off they have "The new adventure of the old christine". She is really the first ex-seinfeld cast member to have a good show. The self deprecating humor in the show makes me actually laugh out loud. So if your bored on Mondays, or you miss Heroes then I recommend CBS's line up.

Afraid of the WII

Now that I have the WII and I have time to play it. I am kind of afraid to play it. I want to play zelda but I could imagine that I am going to love the game and want to play it alot. However I think Sunday night will be the time. I was going to go to a show tonight but with the weather and the fact that I am exhausted from the week I figure its better to just watch some tv and go to sleep which I plan on doing soon.

Once I start playing I will let you all know how much I love it. It will be my spring break next week so I can go crazy and not care. Maybe I will even play while taking my top off. I love spring break.

Mental Block

I have this strange mental blog when it comes to language(spoken or technical) that the more I learn about the language the less I understand it. Well I am at another crossroads with a homework assignment for my C++ class. First I am kind of pissed that we took our final on this past Thursday yet he can still have homework due on Monday. I have been working on this assignment for a while but for some reason I just keep making it worse. I swear I thought I understand what it should be but it keeps giving me some damn errors. I really just want to get this stupid thing done. Also the problem with programming assignments is that you can not BS your way through it like a paper. So pretty much I need to figure out what I am doing wrong or not get credit for the assignment.

I hate school.

Lost Theory updated-jumped the gun

So I started writing the post prior to the end of the show. I have now realized that we still have one slot open for the oceanic six, though I guess he could have died after being rescued. Though that goes back to the whole thing about last seasons finale, whose funeral did Jack go to? I still think it is Michaels or Ben's, though this show messes with you some much though. I guess Jin's tombstone states the date of the crash of the plane as his date of death. So it might mean that he just never got off the island and this was part of the story for the 6 survivors, since we learned from Jack's testimony in court, that they claimed all was dead except for the 6 that got off.

Also so what happens to Michael or Desmond since they are both already on the freighter. I think Desmond dies and then Michael does survive and get off the island and he is the one that dies where Jack goes to his funeral.

God I love being right. I forgot to post another reason for why it was michael. But after my last post I remember that Ben told Michael when he left the island to take the boat in a certain direction and he would run into a freighter. Obviously, Michael then believe that Ben somehow is good for letting him and his son go.

Does anyone know whether this is the last season of Lost? I thought they had said it would be two more before this season started. However I can not imagine how this season is going to end and how they are going to have one more after. I guess maybe people go back to the island. I am also a little sad that we now know all the Oceanic 6. I was hoping there would be some mystery about who the last two were going to be.

Arrested Development

For those of you who were fans of the show, during the Oscar's there was a question about them making a movie. I guess the rumors are true though it looks like not much has been decided. IMDB has is listed only as announced where it looks like some of the original actors have signed on where the rest are listed as "rumored". If you have not checked out the show before then go rent the DVD from netflix or your local video store. They only went three seasons however I do think it was one of the funniest shows ever put on television. You need to watch a few episodes to get to know all the personalities of each character though.

Memoirs of Times forgotten/Ode to an apartment

Tonight is my last night in my old apartment. I have lived in this place for a little over 6.5 years. I am amazed when I think about how much has changed in the world since I moved in here. I start to think more about my life but a lot of it involves everyone else. I have to thank Steve G for coming by tonight and betting me on American Gladiators and letting me take your $10 dollars. It it was nice to have him here since the last time I moved it was when I last lived with him. Also Pablo stopped by for a bit. Same apartment yet he was already moved by the time we moved out prior. I took a video of me just walking around the apartment and getting a view of everything. I at least would love to show my kids one day the place I lived in when I met their mom. I have to say that its strange to feel an emotional connection to a place that I dont own, however this has really been the first home I ever had since my parents house. All the other apartments were just temporary living space. Its really hard to think back to all the times and situations that have happened to this apartment. I have to say that two really great things came out of this place. 1st of course is that I met Keri while living here. She brought it up on friday that she has slept here for over 5 years. Wow. The second is that I feel like after living together TK has become one of my closest friends. Before living together we were friends and had known each other from High School howerver we usually did not go out together unless Mark or Pablo were involved. Now we are both standing up our weddings. I am not sure how TK feels however I don't think I could have ever gotten to the place I am today without him. I feel like emotionally I have matured as we figured parts of our lives out. Its a sad but happy day for me. Its the start of a new era for me and the rest of my life with Keri. Its also the end of an era of this apartment. I will always remember this place with the utmost respect and awe. I still can not imagine the stories that could be told about this place over the years. I think that for the rest of my life this apartment will always have stories that are going to be told. Its hard to find a place that you can call home. Its even harder to leave home. However if you never leave home you can never keep growing and through that you can never realize that you can always make another home as long as your have love in your heart.

You had to know this was coming for a while. I mean did you really think I got Keri the ring and you and I would still be together forever? I thought there were really big hints that would have given the situation away. TK never sleeping here any more I thought would have been a seal the deal situations. However I know how much faith you had in me. You thought that with TK gone you could finally have me all to yourself. The times that were magical. I don't even want to cheapen our time by explaining to other what we had. I just feel like since that we have really run our course in our relationship. I mean really did you think that we could go that much longer before you got a new paint job? I never wanted to bring it up in that past however your walls were looking a little dirty and stained. And not just washable stains. I am really hoping you are not taking any of this as criticism. I am only looking out for you future happiness and hoping that you can find some one who has loved you like I have however can provide the commitment you truly need. One day maybe my kids can come by and play in your condo's(since I am guessing at one point you are going to go through the operation). Either way I have to just say thanks for the greatest 6.5 years I can imagine. Without you my life would never be the same.

To TK, Its really hard to put into word how much these years together have been. I still think back to use starting to live together. The weird part is I really can not remember any issues of having a new roomate and crap like that. Maybe its just me but I really feel like our lives here at Lakewood helped us get to the point we are today in order to be able to meet our lovely fiances. You have been the best roomate, a great confidant. a trusting support system and an amazing friends. I know that the rest of our lives will be amazing and that we will always be friends. However I will always look back on this apartment with fondest of memories and aweness(I know its now a word) of this place. Its really hard to compare our time here to anyone else I have ever known. The amount of situations and experiences that have happened here are enough to last a life time. Thanks for a great 6.5 years. I will miss you as a roomate though you will always be my friend and confidant.

Otherwise its with a really sad heart that I put a close in this chapter of my life It's always been hard for me to deal with the idea of change. The general idea freaks me out. I will say that with such a big change as this happening, I am not a freaked out as I thought I would be. The main reason is that I realized though this ends a very important chapter in my life, it begins an even bigger one. From now on the book of my life is no longer just mine, the story now has a heroine who now plays as much as a role as I do. The rest of the story has already begun but I am so excited to see how the rest of it will be with you.

Thanks for the learning experiences, friends I have gained, loves gained, life lived, life lived(it really needed to be said twice), random crap that overall was a blast, and in general as a place that I always thought of as home. I really will miss you.

Update on WII

So I had to return my WII. I was not a happy camper at all. I am going to swing by again this Saturday and see if they have another one. I may actually buy two this time and once I know one works then I will return the other. Since I could have done that last saturday but who would have thought I would have gotten a bad one. Sucks.

Mission Not Accomplished

I had a plan to blog on Saturday with the Title "Mission Accomplished" . The reason being that after numerous trips to Best Buy in Dec, Jan and Feb I finally found a WII in stock and I bought one. I became obsessed with the idea of getting one a little before Christmas then Keri said my Christmas present would be a WII. I told her we could split the cost.
I had heard stories from Friends that Best Buy gets new WII's on Tuesday and Thursdays mornings. I kept checking the best buy on Clark but no luck. Finally last weekend we went to the Best Buy on Elston and they said that their product shipments come in Monday and Friday nights so the following morning is when you might be able to get one. I went to the BB on Elston and go there about 9:45 and there was already people waiting outside. With in less then 2 minutes of opening, all 6 WII's had been removed from the shelf by customers, with me being one of the lucky few. Keri and I ran errands all day so it was not till the evening that I finally got a chance to try it out. And to my suprise nothing appeared on the screen. I ended up trying it on 3 different TV's and realized it was not the TV. So I called Nintendo yesterday and they think its either a bad video cable or bad hard drive. I am hoping for bad video cable. I will be hitting Best Buy tonight and having them test it. So wish me luck.

For one of my classes the teacher said we can get credit for a paper if we volunteer for a charity called the Tax Assistance Program. I have voluteered the last two saturdays and just this past Tuesday night. I have to say it is a great charity. They provide tax assistance for people who do not make a lot of money. I don't have all the specific's but I know its on their website. My part was a preparer or checker. The preparers enter the information provided into a tax software and then ask some question to figure out what else needs to be done. You really don't need any tax experience. They train you and then there are always people to ask.

I have to say if you live in Chicago and you have some free time on Saturday mornings or Tuesday/Thursday evenings then please sign up to volunteer. To can pick days that work to your schedule. Lost Again

If you are not fully caught up to the season finale of the third season of Lost then you might not want to read ahead.

Tonight they replayed last seasons finale of Lost. They did it a little different in the past by making comments at the bottom of the screen as things happened. Quite interesting.
Here are some of my thoughts on tonights premier.

I think that Ben is the one who is dead and Jack went to his funeral. My reasons:
1. Ben is with the group when the rescue call comes in so he might be forced to leave the island with them.
2. Kate says that there is no reason she would go to the funeral. I figure that any of the people that were rescued only Ben would have been someone she could care less about.
3. Jack shows up at his funeral because I think he feels then Ben was right about not leaving the island and that Jack made the wrong choice.

I just did a wikiepedia search and Ben is from Oregon. In the beginning of last nights replay Jack is reading a newspaper article and it says something about a man from New York he then makes a phone call. I am assuming that it said a man from New York has died. Because of this thought then my second guess though it might actually make more sense as my first guess is that the person that died is Michael. He was from New York and also Kate might not want to go to the funeral because he betrayed them and left her in captivity and then left the island but never sent anyone to find them.

Tetralogy

I am not sure why this popped in my head the other day but I knew about sequels(which i found out is called a duology) or a trilogy. I just never thought about what 4 or more works or art, movies, or books are called. Gabe responded to my gmail status message with the correct answer of Tetralogy. I had never heard that word before. A few people post Quadlogy though from research that was made up by 20th century fox to start marketing box sets of DVD's. I found this link below which I found interesting. They have links for sets of 2, 3, 4,5 and 7 works. I guess people don't ever do things as a series of 6 that they needed to make a word about it. So I just had a gtalk chat with a friend because I decided to make today National Binary Encoding day. Though obviously this blog breaks that rule. I sometimes just like to explain to people what binary or hexadecimal number systems are and I decided to write all of this. Then I really found the final response funny.

Gtalk text below:

me: Hex is a 16 digit base system instead of 10 base which we use. So 0-9 is the same but then 10=A 11=B 12=C 13 14=E 15=F 16=10. Its not that complicated if you think about that its always a 2 digit pair. The first digit is how many 16's there are and the second is how many in between. So 32=20 because its 2 16's and no remainder. 33=21 and so on. Make since?

I went to a dinner with my dad tonight to a dinner and George Lucas was the speaker. I will say he was a good speaker but not a great speaker. He also only spoke for a few minutes. Though I will say he was interesting to listen to and he did get better as the night went on. Here is a poor filming down by yours truly from pretty far back in the room, about the new star wars show called "Clone Wars". Its all animated or CG but it looked pretty cool. The Spice Girls have kicked off their new world tour today. I noticed that they have will be hitting Chicago Feb 15th and 16th though no stops in Colorado. So based on that I believe Mark and baby Caroline need to come in to start the next generation of Spice Girl's nation. Superbad

I finally watched the movie SuperBad. A few of my friends had been stating how funny it was. I will say I found the movie amusing but i am not sure if I could qualify it as funny. I found old school and wedding crashers funny but I did not find Knocked Up funny. Maybe, I have hit that weird point in my life were I have finally became part of a genre of movie. My parents always talk about when music was music. I guess for me with my kids it will be when movies were movies. I never thought about it as a generalization thing until now.

Also back to the move Superbad. Even though the movie was okay in my book. It really did portray the teenage guy on his quest for a female companion well. I did like that you got to see it from both the horn dog and the romantic side of it. Each character did well to fit their roles. From what I remembered this movie is pretty accurate from the way of teenage feelings.

I would say the movie was good overall but if people have built it up for you then go in with lower expectations. I went in with really high expectations and found it alright.

I will say its weird that when I was a teenager i never understood half the crap I do now. The weirdest part about it is as a teenager I thought I knew everything. So I am wondering in 10 more years will I have the same view on my life from now. Also will you be able to remember these kinds of feeling at each age to really to be really empathetic to our kids? Or will our kids just assume we are trying to pretend like we understand? I will say that each generation is a lot different, I could never imagine that my parent grew up in the same environment as me. However I guess now seeing what being a teenager is like it is always somewhat similar, though I am still afraid of what the next generation of teenagers are going to be like. Hell people think myspace is a problem now. I can not imagine what the next 10-15 year will bring for the new youths of America. I will say things like that is what freaks me out about raising kids. Its a tough job and I have the highest respect for it. I just hope one day I can let some of my fears go and be a normal parent or at at least a parent at all.

BSG Razor

Wow how pissed am I to find out that BSG will not be back till march. I thought at the end of last season they said it would be Jan. Now I am really pissed.

I will say Razor was okay until the last 15 minutes where they truly linked it back to the show. I wish it was somewhat longer and I am slightly pissed for the way it ended. I totally understand how the show could leave you with such a point in order to bring it back the end of last season but I guess the question is do you believe them. I am being extremely vague since I do know a few people who do read this blog once in a blue moon who are not fully caught up. So I dont want to ruin it for them yet still talk to the people who are caught up.

I still love BSG and I got my parents to watch the miniseries this weekend. We started at 10:30om and I told them to let me know when they wanted to stop. It was almost 1:00 when I finally stopped it since they were so into it but I knew they also wanted to go to bed. So we ma y have two new BSG fans on our hands. Now I need to get my sister who I think will be easier and then after my brother who will be the hardest.

I am not sure which point I am answering at which point though. I will say though the government(fyi Gov=US gov from now on in this post unless otherwise specified) at times has made a good separation. However the last two terms president has completely allowed himself to put both into the same and then based on that created religious wars. I am not a religious person at in the sense that my belief in god is deism. However I have a respect for people of any faith as long as they believe in it. My issue are more toward the organized part of religion. I want to at least answer Christine's blog.

1. I don't know much about Pentecostalism however I know its a form of fundamentalism. Pretty much I generalize these type of Christians in the same group. Essentially these are the people that believe the bible should be interpreted to the word. I am sure they are all different in their own way but they at times are so bible focussed that they forget Jesus main messsage which was to love your brothers. "Brothers" meaning your fellow persons. The issue I have is that this groups of christians are the leaders in the anti gay movements which I find ironic in the sense they they are so adamant about preaching gods love but they then can not accept all of gods creations. Unfortunatly they don't find it as ironic as I do and they just view it as a sin. In my view its just another great reason to realize how organized religions have butchered the idea of why the religion has started.

2.Church and state separation. I belief in this idea. I do believe that the moral constructs that religion provides should be includes the people representing the government offices. My issues are when they bring their religious beliefs into their law making. Bush original name the war in Afganistan after the 9-11 attack Operation Infinite Justice.
I had never even heard of it before but I had a teach who mentioned and then I found some sites that confirmed this. This was the name for the first two weeks of the war in Afganistan. The idea of even clarifying a war as infinite justice puts a huge religious aspect on it. Obviously they changed it before it became complete holy war based on the name. Not sure if I have a point except I do believe it a separation.

3. I guess my only response to three is that more people have been murder in the name of god or religion then any other reason ever. Based on that alone give me pause. The crusades caused christians and muslims to kill each other. though it was started by the christians so I guess any issues now might be pay back for the crusades. Either way I think they are both f'd up on their process of how it fits their beliefs. Other great killings based on god related issues:
Holocaust(6 million jews)
Crusades(muslims, jews, christians) I believe that is also in order of most killed though that is based on assumption not facts so feel free to post fact on deaths.
Going back I back I guess you could say during the roman empire there was a good amount of killings of Christians though I am also sure they were also killing jews at the time(Islam was not around then otherwise I sure they would have also been persecuted in some way.)
Prior to the point the only majoy Western religion that was around is judaism which was if your have ever read the old testment or seen the movie the "Ten Commandments" would understand that they were enslaved by the Egyptian empire for years. I know this is purely from a western religion point of view but unfortunately I have a very limited knowledge of eastern religions. I guess my main point is the fact that religions have been persecuting other religions for years. Because it puts people into the point that if someone is not comfortable with something different then they need to supress that difference. You still see it all the time in modern day with stereotypes. I am sure we have all been guilty of this in the past. Lets just try not to make the same mistakes in the future.

I have been taking this history class on medieval Europe. It is really awesome. One of the things that we have focused a lot on is the Church and its rise. I was reading a creed that was put out by the 4th Lateran Council in 1215. It stated that Mary was the ever virgin. I have heard this statement before that Mary and Joseph never had sex even after Jesus. By most standards I believe that a marriage is not valid until is has been consumated. Since Mary and Joseph never did then they really don't qualify as ever having been married. Based on that it makes Jesus a child out of wedlock. I believe in modern society we refer to these types of children as bastards. So in essence Jesus was a bastard. And now I am going to hell.

I was gtalking with an old work friend tonight and we got to talking about classes I was talking in school right now. He then brought up something that I had not heard about. Itunes now has a section called ITUNES U where you can download audio files for actual class lectures given certain schools. They cover a wide range of topics. So if your board and there was a class back in college you always wanted to take but didn't want to have to worry about the home then now is your chance. Also the best news of all is they are free.

Also after search I found this links to an actual class I took a little while back. It was a required class so techie's don't make fun of me. However for you non-tech folks who want to learn more about the wonderful world of Information Systems then I would recommend checking it out.

Sorry folks for my long leave of absense. I had to go to the moon for a bit to check out whats its issue with the sea and tides. I got it all worked out so you don't have to worry any more.

On another note, for those of you who have not heard, I got engaged to Keri back in early July. Its exciting but at the same time planning a wedding kind of sucks. I think that is the true test of a relationship is being able to get through the whole expierence.

Otherwise I took the summer off school to relax. Last quarter I did really well in one class and passed another even though I was really worried that I was not going to pass. It was called "Discrete Mathmatics". The last time I took math was 1995 when I was a senior in High School so I was pretty much lost for most of it.

I am going to try and get back into posting.

Wireless home networking

I was asked by my old boss at work for wireless home network issue he is having. He wants to be able to sit in his backyard and still access his network. I originally recommended getting a wireless range extender or relay which essentially just takes a signal and boost it. So imagine it like adding another lilly pad between you and the land so you can hop there and then make it to land. Relays though have to be in range enough of your wireless router to boost it. Depending on how far away your going to be or how many walls are in the way you could end up needing more then one. So while search for them I found these. Pretty cool little devices that plug in your electrical outlet and your router and then you plug the other end in the area you want to get a wireless signal. So as long as he has an outlet or extension cord that can run outside he should be all set. Pretty cool little devices.

I guess we know if Sarah and Dave have a daughter which day she will be getting married. So I biked to work again today. Took a different route which I thought was faster but ended up taking the same amount of time. Only downside is that there a few more slight inclines.

On Tuesday I have class at the Lincoln Park campus. I got to class earlier and since I usually don't get home from class till after 9:30, I tried to eat a snack prior. I went into McDonalds and orders one of those snack wraps. While standing there I looked to my right and saw this letter taped to the wall. Sorry its such a crappy picture it was from my cell phone. Basically is says to keep your receipt otherwise they won't give you your food unless you show your receipt. However there were numerous mispelling. Some words needed to be switched around. Just like as if I wrote it myself. They fixed it by crossing the bad parts and writing what it should say about it. Then I noticed another one on another pillar. Same issue. The dumb part is that is was just a normal piece of yellow paper taped to the wall. I could not believe that they would not spend the extra $0.20 to fix it and print new piece. I am not always a person that believes image is everything but sometimes if you let even the small things slip then I will say that it just doesn't look good.

Bike to work

So I finally did my first bike to work for this year. Since I am working out near O'hare my bike trip is actually a little more then double. I googlemapped it and it was about 11.7 miles. So not a bad day of excercise yesterday with 23.4 miles. Thats alot for me. Today I did not bike in because I was tired and because I have school tonight. The trip to and from work only took one hour each way. Which my normal commute is around 45mins to one hour.

BeerFest only comes once a year to Chicago. I had never heard of it before. There is about 100 brewery's that come and if you purchase tickets beforehand I believe its about $37.

LEAN MEAN working machine

So this project LEAN that I was bitching about last week is not to bad. So far I have met a whole bunch of people who I had talked to on the phone but never met in person. The other advantage of being able to use other people as resources. The point is to cross train which has been kept to a limit at this point.

Also I have been trying to eat better and use the stairs in order to lose some weight to get more LEAN.

There is some new project at work that is geared to make everyone more efficient. Based on that I just found out that on Monday I need to report to a different location. Its not just me, there is a whole bunch of people. I need to know go all the way out to another location near O'hare. This fracking sucks. The reason it sucks is because for the last few weeks I have been allowed to work at home most days. The other part that sucks is that I now need to go all the way downtown and to Lincoln park for school from all the way out there.

Talk about messing with people. How can they only give me one day notice.

For some reason I am sure you all believe me when I say that I seriously do not try to get religion as my topic of choice. However; there was a NiteLine episode tonight about a group called "BattleCry". I really believe that religion provides a great purpose for the general public. My issue is that when these groups then use their religious beliefs to attack another group of people. I believe that almost all religions primary belief is about treating people good. However; based on books that were written at least 1000 or more years depending on the religion. I really don't believe in most religious idea's. However I do respect religion because I believe it installs great moral fiber in people. However I great really pissed at the group of people when they take religion and choose to use it to attack their own personal issues and weakness. If they truly believe in God loves everyone based on their books then why can't God also loves gays even though the book mentions against it in Leviticus which was old testinmate. Yet all as far as I know being gay is not a jewish issue only a christian thing. My understanding is that Jesus provided a new covenant for the people. His main message was that everyone can be loved. I think he was speaking against these old Leviticus laws but somehow modern day fundamentalists still seem to use the old testament as their claim for gods spoken word yet the whole book was supposed to be changed based on Jesus claims in the new testament.

Carol Burnett is sueing Fox over a parody of Burnetts cleaning lady character from her show. I guess the issue is that the cleaning lady is cleaning up a porn shop. I remember the scene and it did not last very long and wasn't that bad of a scene. This is the first time I have heard of Family Guy getting sued. I am kind of suprised since I figured that with the way they make fun of everyone they would get sued all the time.

I just wanted to post a congratulations to Steve and Janet on their engagement this weekend. I know they both make each other extremely happy and will continue to do so going forward. As you can see in the picture you have Steve and Janet, the person in the middle is named Frodo, the ring bearer. Frodo was a integral part of the engagement event. Frodo's job was to run over to S&J and present a pot of gold with the ring in the pot. Frodo did his job flawlessly as any hobbit would do.

Down with the tower of Babel

In class tonight the teach mentioned something in passing that totally caught my mind. If you have not heard of the biblical story of the tower of babel, let me fill you in a built. I am not a biblical scholar so I am going to give you the gist I remember from high school.
Prior to the story everyone in the world spoke the same language. The tower of babel was built to try to reach God. Either that or it was to be built to show they could build a building to heaven. Either way my understanding is that God punished them because for their attempt to reach its greatness. The punishment was that every person their would no longer be able to understand each other through language. Thus giving a reason for the numerous languages spread across the earth.

Do I have a point you may ask? I do. The teach mentioned a language called Esperanto. I have not read the full article yet. However like the tower of babel story I believe I get the gist.
Ludvic Lazarus Zamenhof goal of creating Esperanto was that no country or people of the world would willingly give up their own language for another countries language. Based on that he sought to create a whole new language so that maybe everyone could just move towards this.
I will say that I really like this idea and plan on ready more on this. It could end up being my future goal in life to spread the knowledge and see if people of our generation or the next could eventually adapt this as or something similiar as their global language. I believe getting people to all speak the same language would help solve numerous issues in this world.

I am not sure if this will help a lot but in one of my class recently we had a guy from a group called "team cymru" which specialize in Internet security.

I figured based on that I should post a list of things that I learned to a small level for the general public.

1. run tools like anti-virus, spybot, and ad-aware regularly.
2. Check your bank and credit card account for any transaction that you are not sure about. Especially where a small amount of money was deposited in your account and then withdrawn a few days later. You account could be compromised and is being used as a money laundering system.
3. close credit card accounts your not using. Credit Card companies and merchant online providers do get hacked. A company in Texas got hacked for 8 million cards. For over one years non of those cards showed transactions on the Internet. Also the credit card company did not close any of the original accounts or issue new cards. Only keep open what you need and pay attention to that.
4. If you can handle it on your computer, turn off cookies. Obviously this is a huge pain but essentially by allowing them openly your are already being hacked by these major websites which want to store information on your computers. If you are willing to deal with the pop ups to let you decide which to allow and which to not then I would recommend that.
5. If you computer savy enough check your network with Wireshark(old Ethereal) for what your different pc's are outputting in traffic.
6. Make sure you are at least behind a router on your home network. Due not hook your pc directly up to your cable modem.
7. Read your online banking legal statement. It may say if your own pc is compromised then your account will not be refunded.

I am not saying that we should all be running scared. But I will say some of these were even things I never thought about before. I always thought that banks or any of these online companies would be that really good at protecting us. Just be careful out there.

Mind of the mad man

This summer I read a little bit of the book called the "Zodiac". I read only the letter that were originally written by the Zodiac. There is a movie coming out soon that is based on the situation. I will say I do not know much about it except for what I read. However; I will say that the brief part that I read really weirded me out. If your not sure what I am talking about the Zodiac is in reference to the Zodiace killer. The letters in question that I mentioned above were the letters that the killer actually sent to the local papers. They involved a cipher of cryptic letters which supposedly would give his identity away. He also mentioned that there was a time where the police talked to him after a killing. He was walking down the street after one and the police stopped to talk to him and he pointed them in another direction. The really weird part of the letters is that the reason for his killings were that he was collecting slaves for the afterlife.
I guess its that part most of all that really weirds me out. I am not saying that a serial killer is not messed up enough. I guess the fact that he was playing with the cops obviously showed that he was a smart individual. However then the hole afterlife slave that really adds the fucked up piece to the whole things. This is coming up now because I am actually up doing a change for work and a movie called "The Zodiac" which is based on the killer is on cable. I am actually interested in seeing the version that comes out this spring. As it comes to serial killers based on what I know of them this one seemed to be the smartest and one of the most messed up of them. It really weirds me out to think that someone this clever was able to pull off this kind of horrible violence.
How does one differerenciate right from wrong if you already believe you are right? I am guess that this person believed they were doing good or the "Lords work" depending on the mentality. Just that alone really weirds me out. If I see the new movie I will let you know.

Virtue vs Vices or V3

I am not sure where I heard or read this. It might have been one of the book I read or the what most people would call crappy tv show that I watched. However what ever it was mentioned the idea the vice are virtues that are just not controlled. I believe its from one of the books I have read recently but I am to lazy to look through them. My point, If I can actually make one, is how to you keep your virtues from becoming vices. I know at work my desire to help people became a vice a while ago because I found myself missing things like school and dates for work. After those situations I changes my vice by not letting myself do those things however now I feel at times I might have lost part of my original virtue. I still like to help people at work but now its on my decisions. Its almost as if I perform triage on work clients. Some which is probably something I should have learned at one point in my 10 years of working. I have gotten to the point where I don't let work control me the way it used to. However the downside of losing that vice/virtue is that I now don't really have a desire to go to work as much. I don't feel like I make a difference the same way I used to. I am not saying that I don't have really good days sometimes that make me feel different. Back to my point. How do you balance your virtues in your life in order to not make them vices? I know I did not post of good example. If I can find the exact quote I will. However, I just realized that there are good things in life but unless you can control them they are no longer good.

Bstar Theory

For those of you that are BattleStar Galactica fans I just was rewatching a show from the first half of the 3rd season and thought of something. Its the episode called "Hero" where the pilot Bulldog escape with a raider to meet up with Galatica for the first time in 3 years. They show video of when Bulldog first crossed the armastice line he gets winged by a ship that disapear but disables his ship. At this point two other unknown ships jump in which they believe are cylon raiders. My theory is that maybe that first ship that shot Bulldog down in the first place was not a cylon ship but maybe a third party that we have yet to see. Somehow this 3rd party needed to be able to benefit from the cylon-human war. Not sure yet but this is my rough draft on my theory. More updates to follow as the show continues.

I am currently in class right now. I love wireless internet. Depaul rocks in this fashion.

The teacher started talking about this project/non-profit which goal is to get computers to kids everywhere. Kind of like what Pablo's volunteers with. However I figured I would post it so people can look into it.

After all the talk for the past few months, I finally took all my coins to the bank. Being the jackass that I am, I made sure that he only dumped one bottle at a time so I could figure out how much was in each bottle. This had become a conversation topic a long time ago at my house with some of the guys.

The clear and brown motts bottles weighed 10.4 lbs.
The OJ bottle was close to being full and weighed 19.2
I only weighed two of the penny things that I don't remember off hand how much they weighed but the numbers are at home so I will post them later.
Guess how much was in the different jars and how much money all of the jars are worths. I will post the answer in a few days. Closest to the actual numbers wins nothing.
